The town “Müllheim“ in the 19th century

Getting a recent and historical view of the town „Müllheim“
The roundtrip around this town starts at the tourist information center of “Müllheim”. Standing on the parking lot of the tourist information center turn left into the street “Östliche Alee” until you reach a roundabout. Cross the street here and walk straight into the street “Werderstraße”. Following this street you will see a catholic church on your right side and the on your left side you will see the vineyard “Weingut Engler”.

Go back to the roundabout and follow the street “Werderstraße” until you reach the “Lindenhof” lying on your right side. The house “Villa Blankenhorn” only lies a few meters away and across the street you will see the bank “Sparkasse”. On the square where this bank is standing today used to be a huge herb garden and therefore the building next to this bank is called “Villa Kräuter” (villa herb).

Now continue walking down the “Werderstraße” and you will see the house “Löfflerhaus” on your left side.

The next building can be found only a few meters away across the street. It is the “Postamtgebäude” which lies right next to the present post office.

You will now cross the street “Friedrichsstraße” and reach the evangelic church. On the opposite side of the “Werderstraße” you can see the district court of this town.

Now follow the “Werderstraße” again until you reach the street “Am Lindle”. Turn left into this street and you can see the building of the brewery guesthouse and the fire service center, which used to be the hospital.

Leave the fire service center and continue following the main street. After 80 meters make a halt at the square of the former synagogue which you will find on your right side.

Continue following the street until you reach the park “Blankenhornpark” on you left side. On the opposite side of this park you will find the asylum “Elisabethenheim”.

Take a right here and turn right into the street “Kraftgasse”. After a few meters you will see the former courtyard “Blankenhornhof”. This former courtyard belongs to the family “Blankenhof” and is also birthplace of the famous person “Adolf Blankenhorn”.

Leaving this courtyard follow the creek “Klemmbach” until you reach the street “Willhelmstraße” and the market place. Take a left here and turn into the street “Bachgasse”. At the end of this street take a left and you will have reached the end of our sightseeing tour through the town of “Müllheim”.
